Please be excited with me for my next, fun novel, Christmas Tree Wars, releases Oct. 5th, in only seven more days!
Books can be born anywhere, anytime. This one arrived one Sunday morning as I drove a different Minnesota farm road to church. One side of this route was edged with tall stately evergreens—perfect for Christmas. The land across, owned by a different farmer, was a hayfield with one attractive Christmas-tree growing near its edge. In an instant, the story flashed into my mind as a complete gift. I hadn’t been focusing on new book ideas or inspiration but this downloaded has been so fun to write.
Two feuding Wisconsin Christmas tree farmer neighbors both need help with farm finances. One is a proud Norwegian-American, who thinks less of anyone who isn’t. The other is a Swedish-American who bought half of the Norwegian’s land when it had to be sold for back taxes, contributing to the ill feeling. The Norwegian’s niece comes home to help. So does the Swede’s financial planner son. The young people work together to untangle problems and enter the same national Christmas tree-growing contest–but only one can win. Despite a relationship as star-crossed as Romeo and Juliet’s, the guy and gal fall in love and help their families and town rediscover the reason for the season.
What could be more fun? If only all books sprang to life so easily. (Actually, several of my children’s books did. View those on my delorestopliff.com website.)
I love this book’s cover. It’s available now on Amazon for print or e-book pre-order before its release October 5th. I hope you’ll read, enjoy, and comment.
What fun story would you like to see written into a book? I’m listening. Meanwhile, here in central Minnesota, more hardworking Amish farming families are moving into our area. So much so, that this road sign is now posted on our county highway. (Should I write Amish fiction?)
Send story ideas you want to see written into books. So far, I’m thankful for more ideas than I have time to write. Hopefully, it always stays that way.
May inspiration and happiness be yours today and every day! Have a great Fall filled with Happy Reading.
