My team left Ben Gurion Airport, Israel, before noon on January 21st and re-entered the US that same day after long hours of daylight travel. I love it when we fly west, traveling in the same direction our planet turns, and the joy of reaching our destinations earlier than when we departed!
Fifteen days in Israel is longer than most travelers stay, but every hour brought added memories and insights. For me, time in Israel on my 9th trip, now totaling 135 days in the country, once again gave me a sense of returning home.
History is telescoped here in Israel.
Visitors are impressed with the nation’s inventions and innovations while also walking ancient paths that make us think we may see Jesus and His disciples around any corner. From its beginning, Israel has been a polyglot of languages among peoples from many continents. After all, it is in a narrow strip of land where Europe, Asia, and Africa meet and where caravans and crusaders have traveled back and forth and interacted for millennia.
We touched-down in Memphis on the 21st around midnight. In my next blog, once I decompress, I’ll share more highlights of things to do and not to do. (I’m good at discovering both.) Meanwhile, here are several down payment photos.
Have a wonderful rest of January and stay tuned for updates on my upcoming book release for Strong Currents, the sequel to my novel Books Afloat.
