That’s a great idea for a world trip but not in Doctor Doolittle’s hot air balloon. Nine years ago, my older son and I loved our hot air balloon above two states.
I didn’t circle the world recently, but I did fly to the West Coast to see family and friends. So far my travels included a cave tour, an antique train ride, and much more. As I rushed through Seattle’s Sea-Tac airport to find my luggage, my phone rang with my nearest Amish neighbor checking on me. I love it when incongruous worlds collide. I love being rich in both.
The Pacific Northwest is where I based my first historic novels, Books Afloat, Strong Currents, part of Wilderness Wife, and its sequel when I write it. No place surpasses the area for sheer beauty: Flowers, mountains, rivers, ocean, Mt. Hood shining above the Columbia. I enjoyed childhood scenes to share with you.

Back in Minnesota, things are also thriving. The garden needs weeding, and my grandchildren keep growing. We’ve past the summer solstice, my favorite season when light lasts l-o-n-g. It’s hard seeing days shorten. While enjoying summer I’m also completing major farm and writing tasks.
What about you? What are your summer highlights? Share them and carefully save them to savor on cooler days.
Until next time, Delores
