Many things that matter most to me don’t fit on insurance lists of valuables. On one mission trip to the Philippines, a Filipino school girl I will likely never see again but never forget gave me this treasured cube woven from sugar-cane leaves.
This Canadian amethyst chunk larger than my two hands that is our valued door stop.
A many-angled igneous rock from Sleive Gullion, my favorite heather and moss-covered mountain in Northern Ireland retrieved by a dear friend.
Delicate hand-blown glass made from and colored by Israel’s desert sands.
The sheer beauty of places that grip the heart and are engraved more deeply than photos can show. Their personal touch and creativity is of much greater value than any shopkeeper’s price tag.
Tonight or tomorrow as you open gifts, consider which is your most meaningful and why? Name the favorite gift you’ve ever received? That you would never part with? If possible, take a photo and send it.😊
And of course the very greatest gift of all—Jesus, God’s son, born in a manger because He is available and accessible to every heart and home.
Thanks for reading my books and posts. May you, your families, and our world have a Merry Christmas and a 2025 more happy and blessed that we can even imagine.
Until next time,
Delores
